If we turn to history, the first library in the Naryn Valley dates back to 1926.
From January 1, a network of educational halls and red-gray houses began to open in the Karakol-Naryn region, first of all, 1 educational hall and 2 red-gray houses were opened in Naryn. At the same time, peasant shelters were organized, political instructors gave advice on eliminating the illiteracy of the peasants.
On March 20, 1928, 9 red-gray houses were organized in the Naryn canton. This was the historical beginning of the organization of libraries in Naryn. In 1936-1938, it became the city library, from 1939 to 1960 - the Tien Shan Regional Library, with the abolition of the region - the Naryn City Library, and in 1972, in connection with the reconstruction of the library of the Naryn Region, the Naryn Regional Library made a great contribution to culture our country.
On March 30, 1993, by the decision of the XII convocation of the Naryn Regional Council of People's Deputies, the Naryn Regional Library was named after the great storyteller Sagynbay Orozbak uulu.
Today, there are 129 libraries in the Naryn region, including 1 regional, 4 city, 5 district and 119 rural libraries, serving the population with books and information.
In accordance with the requirements of the time, the regional library is not a traditional book and information center, but has become a center that teaches how to use time correctly and actively uses information and communication technologies.
Between 2002 and 2023, we collaborated with more than 30 international organizations (FCC, EURASIA, EUROPEAN UNION, OSCE, USAID, AGA KHAN, US Embassy), wrote many projects, received grants and replenished our fund with new literature. In accordance with the needs of the time, material and technical means were purchased, classes were updated with equipment, and good conditions were created for students.
The Naryn Regional Information Library named after S. Orozbakov operates in a suitable building. This building was built in 1933, at that time it belonged to the Naryn regional security department, and since 1989 it was transferred to the balance of the regional library. The total area is 6787 m2, of which the library building occupies an area of 1722.14 m2.
as of June 2023 is 103,960 copies . creates. During the year, the library attracted a total of 20,238 new readers, 94,324 arrivals and departures , and 206,886 books borrowed . The library serves readers with 4 reading rooms, 2 computer rooms, a training center, customers can use the WI-FI service. With the support of the embassy, the library is provided with new computers, copiers, printers and literature in English. Today, the library has 79 computers, laptops, tablets, 2 scanners, 10 copiers, 2 video cameras and 2 TVs that perform all services for readers.
Since 2012, the American Center of the US Embassy in Kyrgyzstan has been operating in the Naryn Regional Library.
In 2021, DVV International of Vonn, Germany, will open an “Adult Education Center” in the library, provide this center with appropriate furniture and technical equipment, and we will operate it.
On September 6, 2022, "Civil and Digital Education Centers" under the Central Election Commission will open in 5 libraries of the Naryn region. 15 laptops were transferred to the regional library, the center is working to improve the use of electronic services by citizens and increase the level of digital education.
